Do something good for yourself -- Dance to live music!

     Do you know of a dance that isn't on the U.P. Dance Calendar? Are you organizing a dance? Are you a musician/band playing for a dance? Email the details to me, sue@manytracks.com , and I'll post it below.  No dances in your area? Make one happen! Help keep the dancers and dance musicians active and happy!

     Please Note: It's a good idea to call ahead when attending a dance to make sure the information listed below is correct. All times listed are Eastern Std unless noted otherwise (some dances are in the western U.P. which is on Central Time). List updated 9-14-2019 -- Latest additions in Red.


Sept. 14 - Newberry - 2:00-9:00: Elks Club Annual Yooptoberfest. 2:00-5:00 music by Jim & Teri Enrietti and George, 6:00-9:00 music by a county western band. Food and beverages available.   

Sept. 14 - Wakefield - 4:00-8:00 pm CENTRAL TIME: VFW Octoberfest with Scott & Pam Koehn. Polka/Variety.

Sept. 15 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Spotlight Polka Band. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Sept. 20 - South Range - 7:00-10:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Backroom Boys. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Sept. 21 - L'Anse - 2:00-5:00 pm: Della's 'Celebration of Life' Dance with Bill Kautto Band. at the Whirl-a-Gig Ballroom/Bowling Alley/Bar. Great dance floor, Finger foods, cash bar, prizes. Cost: Donation. Possibly a 'surprise' extra band 6:00-7:00.

Sept. 22 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Panhandler Pete. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Sept. 25 - Calumet - 7:00-10:00 pm: Calumet Theatre Polka Dance Party with Jim & Teri Enrietti and George. Calumet Theatre Ballroom, 6th Street. Doors open at 5:30, pasties served at 6:00, dancing at 7:00. www.CalumetTheatre.com.

Sept. 28 - Iron Mountain - 3:30 - 6:30 CT- Octoberfest, with Polkarioty - Richie & Gabe Yurkovich. Polka, waltz, two-step, other.

Sept. 29 - Marquette - 2:00-5:00 pm: DanceZone Senior Dance, with music by Black Pearl. Cost $8.00 (snack luncheon included). DanceZone, 1113 Lincoln Ave. More information: www.dancezonemqt.org, 906-236-1457.

Sept. 29 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Bill Kautto Band. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Oct. 6 - Gwinn - 1:00-4:00 pm: Silver Wings Community Ctr Senior/Adult Dance at the Sawyer Heritage Air Museum, 403 Third St. Music by HartBeats. $7. The Air Museum will be open during the dance. Snacks available. You are welcome to bring your own snacks as well. 906-362-3531.

Oct. 6 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with SoundWaves. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Oct. 9 - Brimley - 1:00-6:00 pm: Bay Mills Casino Octoberfest Dance with Polkarioty - Richie & Gabe Yurkovich, and Norm Siess Variety Band. No charge. Bay Mills Casino, 11386 W Lakeshore Dr. 888-422-9645.

Oct. 13 - Rock- 1:00-5:00 pm: Senior 2nd Sunday Dance with music by Just the Two of Us.  Cost $5.00 with luncheon available for an additional donation. Rock Senior Center, 3892 W Maple Ridge 37th Rd. More info: 356-6420. Sponsored by the Rock Area Senior Citizens Corporation. Note: Dancers - be sure to make it to this dance for particularly special reasons.

Oct. 13 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Spotlight Polka Band. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Oct. 18 - South Range - 7:00-10:00  pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Backroom Boys. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Oct. 20 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Wil Kilpela and Ken Holster. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.

Oct. 27 - South Range - 5:00-8:00 pm: Eagles Polka Dance with Bill Kautto Band. South Range Eagles, M-26 at 1st St, across from the Post Office. Snacks and finger-food available. $7.
